To say Easterhouse were confident as they travelled to Oban is an understatement and the chants from the minibus could be heard long before they arrived at Mossfield Stadium.

The league leaders haven’t dropped any points this season so far, winning all of their previous games.

After the 10-1 scoreline the last time these two teams met, it’s fair to say

Lochnell were less than confident as the match kicked off.

That lack of self belief was evident as Lochnell conceded two soft goals in the first 10 minutes of play, before a free kick by Kyle Gibson earned the hosts a goal back and for the first time they looked like they believed they could give Easterhouse a game.

Easterhouse were next to score though, re-establishing their twogoal lead with a deft lob over keeper Euan Trew, but again Lochnell fought back with a great through pass from Stephen Kelly to Kyle who found the back of the net to make it 2-3.

Lochnell grew in confidence as the match progressed, clearly rattling the visitors, and further reinforced this as Tikhon Vorobyov pounced on a spilled save from the Easterhouse keeper, drawing the teams level at three goals a piece.

Barely two minutes later, midfielder Ronnie Welsh gathered a cleared ball at the edge of the box and fired home another goal for the hosts, putting them in the lead for the first time in the match.

Clearly not used to being behind, Easterhouse started to lose some composure, although a team of this calibre were not going to take this lying down and again they levelled the score five minutes later.

Both teams were desperate for the win now and there was 15 minutes of end-to-end play before the visitors again took the lead at 4-5.

With three minutes remaining, it looked like time was going to run out for Lochnell before winger Innes Fraser cut the ball back to find Kyle Gibson who body checked the ball across the goal line.

Delighted at the prospect of a draw against Easterhouse, it was a crushing blow for the hosts when they conceded another goal with seconds clock.

However, a last determined push saw Lochnell awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and with the last kick of the match, Lewis Rae beat the keeper with as good a free kick as you will see.

Although only a draw, this felt like a win for the home side as they battled hard against a very good team and more than deserved to take a share of the points.

Before the game, a minute’s silence was respectfully observed by both teams at Easterhouse’s request. left on the
