Stage set for spooky Showstopper

-

Lochaber Showstoppers are back on stage after their sell-out pantomime as they welcome the spookiest family to Fort William, The Addams Family, writes Fiona Scott.

A delightfully dark and funny show that truly encompasses what it means to be yourself no matter how cookie or abnormal you may seem, with appearances from all your favourite characters.

Everyone has had a blast during rehearsals and the Showstoppers team are thrilled to present this hilariously spooky show, which will be their first musical since 2016.

The group has seen an incredible growth in members and volunteers since their last performance – all of whom show such talent and dedication.

You will see familiar faces in both the cast and crew, with Hannah Calder as director, Liz Faulkner as vocal director, Leah Burns as choreographer and Ryan Flay as producer.

This modern musical follows the iconic family as they find out that their little Wednesday Addams (Rhona Maitland) is all grown up and found herself in love with a “normal” boy Lucas Beineke (Rowan Hopton). Not everyone is on board with their budding romance, however, with her brother Pugsley (Alice Campbell) worried she will never torture him again, her mother Morticia (Amly Lieder) scared she is throwing her life away and her father Gomez (Qyle Lander) stuck in the middle keeping secrets from his wife for the first time in his life.

Uncle Fester (Ryan Flay), on the other hand, who is embarking on his own love story, is thrilled about the teens’ romance and seeks help from the ghosts of the Addams Ancestors (Jane Poulton, Lee Burges, Bill McAlpine, Shona Bell, Jenny Taylor, Anja Inkson, Debbie McAdam Slater, Jenni McInnes, Kylie Hickman and Karen Hosey), who follow the chaos throughout the story to bring both families together.

Potion fanatic Grandma (Jane Angus/Suzanne McAlpine) and larger than life butler Lurch (Matthew Colbert) aid the whole family try to become a normal American family, which turns out to be more challenging than first thought.

The show reaches its hilariously disastrous climax when the Addams invite Lucas and his parents, Alice (Sarah Davidson) and Mal (Andy Poulton), over for dinner which quickly turns into chaos, changing everyone’s lives…but have they changed for the better?

The Addams Family will be performed in Kilmallie Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday April 6, Friday 7 and Saturday 8, with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday afternoon.

Tickets are £12 for adults (plus booking fee) and £10 for children and concessions (plus booking fee) and are on sale now at www.lochabershowstoppers.co.uk/tickets/ and at An Cafaidh Mara in Corpach.

So, move into your darkness as Lochaber Showstoppers present this unmissable show full of twists, turns, chaos and laughs. *Snap, snap*
