Have you got what it takes to join Marie Curie nursing team?

-

End of life charity Marie Curie is looking for people with a health or social care background to join its community nursing team in Oban, writes Kathie Griffiths.

Marie Curie is the country’s leading end-of-life charity, helping people living with a terminal illness and helping their families across the UK.

To find out more about the role, there will be an open day at Rockfield Centre 10am2.30pm on Tuesday May 23.

Clinical nurse manager for Marie Curie, Lesley Middleton, said: “We know how vital the services we provide to terminally ill people are – even more so for those living in rural areas. During the pandemic, we cared for the highest amount of people on record since the charity began over 70 years ago, and it’s imperative we can continue being there for people and their families in their final days, weeks, months and years.

“That’s why we are looking for people with a health or social care background to come and join our close-knit team. No one likes to think about death, dying and bereavement, but, sadly, it’s something all of us will experience in our lives, which is why the work we do is so vital to these local communities.”

Due to the pandemic, more people have died at home from a reduction in health and social care services.

As well as this, some people will not have received the care they desperately needed, meaning their loved ones took on caring roles for them.

The charity provides palliative care, end of life care and support to people in their homes, as well as its two Scottish hospices.
