Partying at Park Primary
What a photograph! Park Primary School managed to get everyone in on this special snap to mark its 50th birthday.
All the classes put on fancy dress to celebrate the decades that have passed from the 1970s onwards with youngsters strutting their stuff on a catwalk to show off the styles of yesteryear.
Headteacher Shirley Stewart said it was an amazing day to see everyone getting involved in the big party and having lots of birthday fun.
The school’s parent council are also organising a 50th anniversary fete in Kerrera Terrace on Sunday May 14, from 11am to 3pm, and is inviting everyone, including present and past pupils, staff and their families, to come along.
There will be a free bouncy castle, giant slide, mechanical bull and face painting thanks to funding from National Lottery Awards for All.
There will also be free circus performances and workshops from the incredible Think Circus for families to enjoy and there will be Highland Fold Ice Cream, a candyfloss machine and Dougie Dan’s burgers to tempt the taste buds.
Stalls will include a blind auction, a giant gold hamper raffle, bake sale, adopt a bear, bottle raffle, glitter tattoos and more. After a successful appeal to the public for old school photographs, the Heritage Hunters and a group of children from the school have arranged a special exhibition in the school hall for all generations to enjoy.
Local artist Paul Gent was commissioned to paint four locally-inspired murals that the 230 current school children filled in over two weeks ready to be revealed at the fete.
