United Auctions, Oban, Tuesday May 11: sold 436 store cattle & breeding cattle and 666 sheep of all classes. Bullocks sold to £1515 for a pen of four, 470kg ChaX from Messrs Leitch, Fernoch, to average £974.26 (+£198.91) while Heifers sold to £1670 for a 548kg, LimX from E & L Macgillivray, Barcaldine Home Farm, to average £886.34 (+£164.85). Bullocks sold to 411.6p/kg for a pen of four, 277kg LimX from M/s Troughton, Ardachy Farm to average 313.18p/kg (+65.59p) while heifers sold to 394.2p/ kg for a 312kg, BsX from Glenure Estate, Fasnacloich to average 291.7p/kg (+58.5p).
A good show of quality bred grazing cattle were forward, meeting a welcome increase on the year. A quality show of sheep met a sound demand in line with other centres.
