Bishopton 67 Lochaber 17

Tennent’s Men’s West League Division Three

Lochaber travelled to Bishopton on Saturday for their final game of the season.

They travelled with 17 players, many carrying injuries but all were keen to get the final game played. Bishopton were looking to end on a high after already securing promotion to West Division Two.

Bishopton opened the scoring with a penalty early in the first half before Lochaber responded with the first try of the game when Henry Hodges ran into score in the corner. Callum Boyd slotted the conversion.

The hosts responded almost immediately with a try of their own which would be the first of many.

Bishopton did well on limiting Lochaber’s attacking opportunities but on their second visit to Bishopton’s 22 the visiting outfit came away with another try after Toms Prusis ran in to score.

Lochaber lost Toms and Josh MacKay to injury early in the second half, resulting in uncontested scrums and inability to make their final substitution which meant they were reduced to 14 men.

However, they did get one last consolation try at the death when Jonathan McCook scored in the corner.

Retiring prop William Stewart was given the conversion but could not quite get it on target.

Lochaber’s season has had its ups and downs but had some big positives as well.

The club would like to thank all their wonderful volunteers for their outstanding contribution to the club and all the supporters that come out to cheer the boys on from the hill.

See you all next season.
