Application submitted for wellbeing hub on the Isle of Lismore
A hub for “wellness tourism” could be on its way to the Isle of Lismore under plans submitted to council chiefs.
Rognvald Livingstone has made the application for planning permission for the facility on land north-east of Point House to Argyll and Bute Council.
The proposed single storey building would consist of “an environmentally sensitive, non-residential retreat hub for supporting and creating wellness tourism.”
A decision from planning officers is expected by early July and the public can now submit comments to the authority.
A design statement by planning agents AGL Architects Ltd said: “The proposed development will be executed under a single phase to reduce the impact on the surrounding environment.
“The programme of implementing and delivering the individual development will be primarily dependant on funding available to the relevant landowner at the time.
“The design solution has been influenced and generated by a number of factors located immediately within and adjacent to the site – such as outward vistas and site orientation.
“The layout is designed to reduce/limit the necessity of vast access roads by creating a private surface and reuse existing access points.
“The design and layout of the development site will provide natural surveillance and give the perception of a safe and secure environment while at the same time provide views out beyond the immediate surroundings.
“The scale, density and location of the building together with the proposed landscaping proposals help locate the development within the surrounding context of the site.”
An accompanying masterplan document states that Mr Livingstone forecasts that the wellness retreat could eventually create full-time and part-time jobs.
