Highland Council opens grant fund applications
Highland Council is inviting applications for its 2024-2025 Regeneration Capital Grant Fund.
Delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla), the grant supports locally-developed regeneration projects that involve communities, tackle inequality and stimulate growth in disadvantaged remote areas.
The total fund available across Scotland for 2024/2025 round is £25 million.
Conceived in 2014, the fund has so far helped 18 projects in the Highland Council region. These have included the Thomas Telford Corpach Marina, £1,465,000; Morvern
Community Business Hub, £788,000; Raasay Community Pontoon, £442,858 and Knoydart Bunkhouse, £560,000.
The fund has also supported 19 Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar projects in the Western Isles. These have included £3.7m for the Stornoway Regeneration Project; £2.55m to Cnoc Soilleir and £2m to the Calanais 2025 project.
Chairman of Highland Council’s economy and infrastructure committee Councillor Ken Gowans said: “The Highland Council has been successful in securing Regeneration Capital Grant Fund grants from the Scottish Government since it was established in 2014. The fund is an incredibly competitive challenge fund so the council can only submit applications for projects that are suitably well developed and can demonstrate they will start in 2024-25.
“I encourage any organisations or groups with worthy projects to submit an expression of interest form by Monday June 12 2023.”
