Caberfeidh 0 Kyles Athletic 4

-

Kyles Athletic moved out of the relegation zone after overcoming Caberfeidh 4-0 in their 1.30pm throw up at Castle Leod.

Caberfeidh’s Liam Simmonds completed his two-match ban, whilst Scott Macphail was working. Ben Macdonald and Kyle Grant returned to the squad.

Kyles have endured a series of injuries over recent months but are now returning to a full squad.

All the goals came in the first half and Kyles went in front on 14 minutes when Robbie Macleod’s hit-in from the left

wasn’t cleared by the home defence and Scott Macdonald found Conor Kennedy who swiped the ball home on the turn from the edge of the D.

Scott MacDonald added a second on 20 minutes. Will Cowie played the ball forward to the right of the D. Caberfeidh keeper Iain McCall came off his line but mishit the attempted clearance and Scott Macdonald turned the ball low into the net form a tight angle of the right.

Conor Kennedy got his second just four minutes later. Will Cowie won possession, taking the ball to the right and when he played it into the middle, it fell for Kennedy who made no mistake.

The first half could hardly have gone better for Kyles and, with just a couple of minutes until the interval, Scott Macdonald and Ross MacRae combined to find Will Cowie by the left corner flag. Cowie played the ball inside to Conor Kennedy who quickly found Scott MacDonald and he got to the ball just ahead of Blair Morrison to send it low into the net and make it 4-0.

Kyles Athletic player/coach Roddy Macdonald said: “We are very happy with that result; it was a great team performance. We battled for every ball and played some great shinty, especially in the first half.

“Travelling with a full squad hasn’t happened often over the last couple of years so that was particularly pleasing.”
