MOWI NORTH DIVISION 1

-

Kinlochshiel 0 Newtonmore 6

Newtonmore seconds beat the Kinlochshiel seconds in their top of the table clash at Rèaraig.

Declan Brannan turned home Glen MacKintosh’s low cross from the left to open the scoring on two minutes and then, almost straight from the restart, Brannan fired into the net from wide on the right to make it 2-0.

Kinlochshiel responded and ‘More keeper Jason MacDonald made some good saves to protect his side’s lead.

However, a great finish from Brannan on 15 minutes completed his hat-trick and things looked bleak for the home side.

Xander Ross lost his marker at the back post to turn home a ball from the right to score a well-worked goal on 37 minutes and, just a couple of minutes later, Ross scored again, this time getting onto the end of a Glen MacKintosh knock-down.

Glen MacKintosh ran onto a ball to the right of the D, finishing low into the net to make it 6-0 on the hour.

Newtonmore now open up a four-point lead at the top of the table and these sides meet again this coming Saturday, this time in the Strathdearn Cup semi-finals at the Eilan.

Skye Camanachd 3 Beauly 1

Playing at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree, Iain MacInnes gave Skye the lead after some good passing on nine minutes, but Finlay Dunbar took advantage of a defensive slip to level on 15 minutes.

Seonaidh Alec MacLeod put Skye back in front on the halfhour, taking down a corner before finishing well.

MacLeod then turned provider as he flicked the ball to Iain MacInnes, who tapped home to score his second goal of the game which made it 3-1 a minute after the hour.

Fort William 7 Lovat 0

Padraig MacNeil grabbed a hat-trick as the Fort William reserves beat the Lovat reserves at An Aird.

Lachie Shaw got the scoring underway on two minutes with Padraig MacNeil adding a second just three minutes after.

MacNeil got his second on 34 minutes, while Archie MacKinnon on 39 minutes and David Duncan on 45 minutes gave the Fort an unassailable 5-0 interval lead.

Padraig MacNeil completed his hat-trick on 52 minutes and, after netting a couple of minutes from the start of the game, Lachie Shaw also scored two minutes from the end of the match to complete the rout.

The win sets Fort William up nicely for Saturday’s Strathdearn Cup semi-final against Lochcarron at An Aird.

Glenurquhart 5 Glengarry 2

The Glenurquhart colts won for the third successive match, consigning Glengarry to their fifth successive league defeat at Blairbeg.

Alfie MacLeod sent Glenurquhart on their way to a 5-2 win with a double on 16 and 32 minutes with John Cameron adding a third a minute later.

Charlie MacLeod made it 4-0 on 49 minutes but Shaun Nicholson pulled a goal back on 65 minutes.

Calum Miller made it 5-1 on 87 minutes and when referee Graeme Irvine awarded the visitors a penalty a minute later, Shaun Nicholson converted from the spot to claim his second goal of the game.
