Anticipation has been building through Muthu’s renovation of this iconic Category B listed property. It includes the 1896 Scottish Baronial building designed by Alexander Shairp that was originally the Marine Hotel. But the most noticeable feature is the 1936 building in the Streamline Moderne fashion by James Taylor. The original design, which features the elegant curved forms and aerodynamic lines characteristic of the style, is among the bestpreserved hotels of this era in Scotland.

“Not only does Muthu Oban Regent Hotel reflect the historic Art Deco architecture, it reflects the town and its history,”commented Amit Kumar, Sales Manager for MGM Hotels & Resorts.“At first look, the hotel stands out amongst all the buildings here on Corran Esplanade. Its facade is modern and light coloured, with a touch of MGM Muthu's signature style that catches your attention. The hotel showcases Oban and its rich culture, a blend of both historic and contemporary.”

Entering the lobby, guests are greeted by opulent décor that exudes 1930s-style. Think plush furnishings, sumptuous floor tiles in marbled colours that reflect Scotland’s lush landscape, shimmering glass chandeliers and sleek metallic finishes that add a touch of luxury. Glamorous images of Muthu’s other exotic global destinations evoke the Golden age of Travel. Huge windows across the front of the lobby and restaurant bring the light in for a bright and airy atmosphere, as they take in the panorama of the sea, islands and the ships

sailing in and out of the harbour. Each guest is met with a heartfelt welcome, and this warm reception sets the tone for a memorable stay. From a friendly smile at check-in to attentive service, the expert team’s hospitality shines through every interaction.

Regent Hotel is centrally located at the heart of town on the Esplanade, with easy accessibility to all of the fantastic activities that Oban has to offer. Conveniently, it is only a few minutes’ walk from the bus stop, rail station and ferry terminal.

“The Hotel provides convenience to guests that come to Oban to experience a boat trip, which is the perfect way to explore our coastline and discover the scenery and wonderful wildlife that inhabits the region's waters,”

Amit explained.“From sailing trips, gentle beach strolls and family walks in the woods to transportation, shops, museums and the famous Oban Distillery, everything is just a few steps away.”

Dining is also a treat at the hotel’s Saltburn Restaurant, which serves coastal cuisine inspired by Asia, India, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and local delicacies.

“Entering Saltburn Restaurant, you will see how the bar area bears a resemblance to the actual distillery, with a contemporary bar that features a hint of natural elements in the decor that reminds us of how Oban is blessed with one of the most beautiful panoramas of all of Scotland,”Amit said.“The all-glass windows highlight the stunning view of Oban Bay, and its picturesque sunset makes this spot a look out for locals and visitors.”

“We welcome the public, as well as our residents,to Saltburn,”he continued.“We have a 78 seating capacity, which is great for families, as well as visitors who want to turn their regular dinners into a sensational and memorable experience.”

The rooms offer all the modern conveniences, clean interiors, and friendly, personal service, along with views to choose from among the Bay, the gardens, McCaig’s Tower or the verdant countryside.

Not only that, Muthu Oban Regent Hotel is great for friends searching for an enjoyable night, while savouring a cold beer, a glass of wine or a variety of spirits from the hotel's Cellar Bar.”

The Cellar Bar, located in the Victorian part of the property, is an Oban institution, a cosy sports bar much loved, not only because it provides the preferred drinks for locals, but also because it has great ambience.

“Our varieties of whiskies, wines, beers and cocktails, as well our excellent bartender, Andy, are famous among locals, who love the nostalgia of using the old jukebox,”Amit said.“Also, locals know that our bar carries the MGM Muthu Brand, which offers excellence not only for room

accommodations, but also for food and beverages.”

Whether visiting from out of town, considering a staycation or wishing to enjoy Oban’s newest dining venue or savour a dram in a locals’ favourite pub, Amit and his team look forward to welcoming you.
