Hotel staff pull out the stops to raise money for mental health charity

-

Staff from the Clachaig Inn, Ballachulish, aim to raise £2,000 for a local charity every February and this year their fundraising efforts were for local mental health and wellbeing charity Ewen’s Room.

This year, for the first time, the team raised more than £3,000, achieving a total of £3,215.75.

William Stewart, general manager of the Clachaig Inn recently met up with Malcolm and Rosie Gillespie from the charity to hand over the money. The couple expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped raise the money by selling and buying tickets and to everyone who contributed prizes.

Since they started yearly fundraising in 2014, the Clachaig Inn has raised £28,200.60 for charities including Ewen’s Room, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, four defibrillators for South Lochaber and the avalanche transceiver park at Glencoe Mountain.

Prior to the annual fundraising, they raised £13,295.60 for local schools and Erskine Hospital.

“This would not have been

possible without generous donations from local companies including Nevisport, Nevis Cycles, Off Beat Bikes, Ben Nevis Distillery and The Enchanted Florist of Lochaber, to name but a few,” said William. “Our suppliers including Letterfinlay Foods, Cairngorm Brewery, Loch Lomond Brewery, River Leven

Ales and Glen Spean Brewery and winter lecture sponsors Rab and Petzl have all helped too.

“Thanks also to our amazing staff over the years who pester everyone to buy raffle tickets and, of course, our incredible customers who have bought so many tickets over the years. A massive thank you to you all.”
