Four men get on their bikes for charities ride
Four men are cycling 460 miles across Argyll in six days to fundraise for their favourite charities.
Ross Muir, Ally Gunn, Stewart Barr and DJ Barr are jumping on their bikes for their epic charity cycle, visiting all major towns, six islands and taking 15 ferry journeys, from Wednesday May 29 to Monday June 3.
The event is fundraising for three great charities, MND Scotland, Argyll Beats Cardiovascular Disease (ABCD) and Oxygen Oban, which help so many people in the communities the cyclists live in.
During the cycle, they will visit the 18 Masonic Lodges in the Province of Argyll and the Isles, with the four boys starting and ending the journey at their own lodge, Lodge St Modan 985 in Taynuilt.
They will be travelling through nearly all Argyll’s main towns – Oban, Lochgilphead, Tarbert, Campbeltown and Dunoon – and island hopping to Tiree, Mull, Islay, Arran, Cumbrae and Bute.
“Any support on the way will be appreciated,” said cyclist DJ Barr. “To date we have raised £16,500, and we cannot thank everyone who has supported us to reach this figure enough – it makes all the training miles well worth it and easier. We set a target of £3,000, so to raise this much is amazing.
“At a recent social event held at Lodge Oban Commercial 180 on Albany Street, an amazing £4,275 was raised with an excellent night had by all.”
