Big year for netball
Having made a breakthrough at the Commonwealth Games and grabb ed BBC Spoty honours – England’s netballers were named both Team of the Year and creators of the Greatest Moment of the Year – the Roses face the most demanding of years in 2019. First up is the Quad Series later this month, which includes a rematch with their Gold Coast final opponents, Australia. As well as facing the Diamonds Tracey Neville’s squad meet powerful opponents in New Zealand and South Africa during the Series from 13- 20 January at Liverpool’s Echo Arena and London’s Copper Box . All the matches are on Sky Sports.
Come July and the Vitality Netball World Cup arrives in Liverpool. From 12- 21 July there will be a hectic schedule of action that sees up to eight matches played each day in the preliminary stages of a tournament featuring 16 nations and 60 matches over 10 days. England are grouped alongside Scotland, Uganda and Samoa in Group D. Northern Ireland have a tough assignment in Group A, where the defending champions, Australia, li e in wait alongside Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Sky and the BBC will be showing the matches, with the corporation broadcasting every match live from day four onwards.
