Hindu temple sparks women’s protest

The Observer - - World -

A new standoff between Hindu traditionalists and Indian police over a shrine is looming, with 560 women expected to visit when it reopens on Saturday. India’s supreme court has ruled that all women should be allowed into the Sabarimala hilltop temple in Kerala, and not just those under 10 or over 50. But when the temple reopened in mid-October, violent protests broke out.
