The Observer - - News - ARTS

Sales and streaming of classical music in the UK increased by more than 10% in 2018, with the genre growing faster than the British music industry at large. Across all musical genres, there was a rise of only 5.7% in consumption over the past 12 months, according to data collected by the Official Charts Company for the BPI, the UK’s trade association for record labels.

In that period, more than 2.2 million classical albums were purchased, downloaded or streamed – painting a positive picture for the future of the genre.
