Tied up in the wrong knots

SIR: As Pedants’ Revolt seems to have disappeared from the magazine I will use Readers’ Letters to air my grievance. Why do so many male presenters and guests on television insist on wearing a shirt with a spread collar, teamed with a tie tied with a half-windsor knot? The spread collar was specifically designed to show off the full Windsor knot and just looks ridiculous with the asymmetrical knot, especially if the part of the tie encircling the neck is also on show.
