Reader Course: Journalism
Thursday 29th November 2018 – The East India Club, 16 St James’s Square, London SW1Y 4LH
The Oldie has always encouraged its readers to write for the magazine. Now, with the multitude of digital outlets (including our very own blog), we want to help readers build a second career in print or digital journalism.
Due to popular demand, we know that many of you want to try your hand – with a little insider help. So we have put together a crack team of highly experienced journalists to take you through writing for magazines and newspapers and online. We set out how to approach editors, and how to write reviews, columns and travel pieces. Liz Hodgkinson, a seasoned journalist, will offer advice on how to do interviews. There will also be a foray into digital journalism and social media, with David Hepworth.
The venue is the Hogarth Room of the East India Club – with a very good finger-buffet lunch and wine.

10.15am – How to approach an editor with Harry Mount, editor of The Oldie.
