Cambridge secret service
SIR: Much as I admire the fortitude of Sheila Wells in queuing to attend the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,
there is an easier way. If she had waited 24 hours, she could have walked into the Christmas Day service at 11am and heard the same choir and many of the same carols, as well as a small ensemble playing to her, accompanied by the choir, while she took communion. My wife and I do this every year before our Christmas dinner. It is one of Cambridge’s best-kept secrets – until, of course, you publish this letter. Stephen Halliday, Cambridge
