Thorny June Whitfield

SIR: Your article about Dame June Whitfield’s memorial service reminds me that she was honoured by having a rose dedicated to her, namely Rosa June Whitfield = ‘Harchutzpah’.

More importantly, she was highly amused to read in the rose catalogue that ‘June Whitfield is superb for bedding but best up against a wall’.
