Vulnerable families assisted

Around 250 of Orkney’s most vulnerable families received a cash boost at the end of last year thanks to £100 from the Scottish Government COVID Hardship Payment, and a further £100 in Orkney Islands Council grant per child.

The cash boost was targeted at young people eligible for free school meals as a result of low income.

Meanwhile, staff at Orkney Health and Care ensured Scottish Government Winter Wellbeing Fund grocery vouchers reached our most vulnerable families. Just under 30 of our most vulnerable families received Tesco vouchers, totalling £7,940.
