Wild Orkney Walks

-

Megan Taylor set up her own business, Wild Orkney Walks, to share her love and passion of Orkney’s wildlife and scenery.

Growing up in the Highlands, she has always enjoyed being outdoors, watching wildlife. Since moving to Orkney over 12 years ago, she has developed her knowledge through volunteering with the BTO, RSPB, Orkney Nature Festival and Orkney Field Club. For the last six years, Megan has been part of the RSPB Eaglewatch team on Hoy and is very passionate about the story of their return to Orkney.

Wild Orkney Walks offers a variety of guided walks all year round ranging in length from two hours up to a full day. Our walks take in a variety of different habitats and species of wildlife, and where possible, we try to escape the crowds and get off the beaten track. Whether you would like to see seals, hen harriers, Primula Scotica, our charismatic puffins, or even some of our winter specialities like the mountain hares or long-tailed ducks, there will be a walk to suit you. Walks can be arranged morning, afternoon, or evening to take advantage of our light summer nights.

In light of COVID-19, we have made some changes to the way we operate to help keep you safe. Maximum group size is reduced from eight to six, and there will be no mixed groups. All bookings will be restricted to one household/social bubble per walk, bookings must be made in advance and payment will be taken at the time of booking.

For more information on this and other changes please look at our website www.wildorkneywalks.co.uk.

Megan’s guided walks provide a special insight into the beauty and magic of Orkney’s wildlife and landscapes. Join her for a walk to experience the real Orkney.
