Drawing inspiration from Orkney’s seas, coastal landscapes, and rich history, Zoe Davidson Jewellery embraces a “small” ethos to deliver a tailor-made service to customers. The business began in 2016, and as demand grew, Zoe was soon able to make it a full-time enterprise. It was during her time at the University of Dundee that she discovered her true passion for jewellery. An environment filled with the flames and hammers was one she knew she would thrive in!
Initially, Zoe’s artistic journey led her to design and craft dynamic body sculptures tailored for the realms of film and high fashion. Returning to her home in Orkney and working with Scottish-based jewellers, Zoe soon made a pivotal decision to embark on her own independent jewellery venture, focusing on crafting small, wearable sculptures. Since then, she has earned multiple accolades for her exceptional work.
Committed to expansion, Zoe collaborates with skilled freelancers based in Orkney. This continues to fuel the growth of her business, with each unique design full of surprises.
Just one example is The Workshop Gemstone Ring from the Skara Brae collection — a versatile piece that can be worn in two distinct ways, allowing you to choose the gemstone colour or shape that suits your mood or style for the day.
Captivating from all angles, Zoe’s beautiful designs are fuelled by her belief that even the smallest businesses can make a substantial impact. “We connect with our customers on a personal level,” explains Zoe. “This level of engagement would be challenging to maintain with a larger team.”
Zoe’s bespoke works currently have a waiting list exceeding six months, delivering personal pieces that can be treasured for a lifetime.
If you are in Orkney this summer, you might catch the Zoe Davidson Jewellery pop-up shop at The Plainstones in Stromness. Running from the beginning of May to mid-july, visitors are invited to observe skilled artisans at work while exploring Zoe’s core collections and a showcase of exquisite bespoke jewellery.
