Natural Mineral Waters:

A very European heritage

-

Did you know that according to EU legislation, natural mineral waters are clearly distinguishable from ordinary drinking water and must only come from protected underground origin? (Directive 2009/54).

Over the course of its long journey, sometimes thousands of years, the water is naturally filtered and enriched with minerals by the rocks it seeps through. This is how each natural mineral water gains its unique taste and mineral composition.

Sustainability is at the heart of the business: abstraction levels are limited to natural replenishment. Through working in partnership with local stakeholders, our producers take extensive measures to protect the environment around the source, helping to safeguard biodiversity and natural habitats.

Natural mineral waters contribute to Europe’s reputation for high quality food and beverages. Today, they are safely delivered to consumers in glass, PET and aluminum – all 100% recyclable, helping to retain their pristine qualities from the source. Producers play a leading role in promoting efficient collection and recycling as they believe that every bottle should be given a second life!

Water is a vital nutrient for our body, with each and every cell requiring water to function. Studies show that we are not meeting EFSA’s guidelines for daily water intake, so #stayhydrated and learn more on www.efbw.org or @efbw_eu.
