‘Mug death man’ held
A MAN was remanded in custody yesterday, accused of the manslaughter of a 100-year-old widow who had her neck broken in a mugging.
Zofija Kaczan died on Wednesday, nine days after the alleged attack.
Polish-born Arthur Waszkiewicz, 39, was remanded by Southern Derbyshire magistrates.
Mrs Kaczan, who was held in a Nazi camp in the war, was allegedly attacked from behind for her handbag en route to church in Normanton, Derby.
Waszkiewicz, of Shepherd’s Bush, West London, will next appear at Derby Crown Court on July 6.
