“My life revolves around them now – taking them to school, getting them to bed, being there for them, being there at weekends.

“Fatherhood taught me that there is no love as strong as the love you have for your children. Not even my love for playing live.”

Sir Elton kicked off the first of his 300-date tour in the US last week.

Despite his reluctance he is expected to rake in over £300million for the three-year extravaganza. FRIENDS star Matthew Perry said yesterday that he has been in hospital for three months.

The actor, 49, revealed his health battle after major abdominal surgery.

“Three months in a hospital bed. Check,” the actor tweeted on Saturday.

His announcement sparked a flood of comments from his 1.18 million followers.

Many posted Friends memes and quotes from Chandler Bing, his character on the hit US show, in a show of support.

The details of his condition are unknown but it is believed to be linked to an operation to repair a gastrointestinal perforation – a hole in the stomach, small intestine or large bowel – in August.

Concern

Symptoms include severe abdominal pain and possible causes can include trauma from a knife wound or eating a sharp object. It can lead to sepsis and be fatal.

At the time of the operation, which was carried out at a Los Angeles hospital, his representative thanked fans for their support, adding: “He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.”

It is the latest health scare for the actor, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction.

He became hooked on booze and the prescription painkiller Vicodin after a jet ski accident in 1997.

Perry previously admitted he often used to turn up to the set of Friends while hung over or suffering withdrawal symptoms during the comedy’s 1990s heydey – prompting co-stars to beg him to seek help.

He later told People magazine: “I had a big problem with pills and alcohol, and I couldn’t stop.”

The star spent time in and out of rehab but has now been sober for 17 years, since flying to an LA facility in 2001 for addiction to Vicodin, amphetamines, methadone and alcohol.

Today he is an outspoken campaigner on the misery of addiction and even turned his Malibu home into a sober living facility to help

other addicts.
