A BOY of three critically injured by a giraffe is regaining consciousness after 13 days in an induced coma.

UK biologist’s son Finn Williams was said to be breathing independently following a life-saving emergency brain op.

Mother Katy, 35, a US biologist, was also trampled in the attack on a South African wildlife reserve where the family lives.

She came round five days ago after surgery – but both victims are said to have “life-changing injuries”.

They were saved when Dr Sam Williams, 36, from Bradford, saw his wife and son’s plight and chased off the giraffe – thought to have feared its calf was in peril.

The family’s lawyer said: “Finn is still sedated but is starting to wake up. Katy’s condition improves daily.”
