Star drove hubby to 3 extra years
A WIDOW has told how Noel Edmonds used his Routemaster bus to take her and her hubby on jaunts to keep their spirits up while he battled terminal cancer.
The star stunned campmates when he said he owned a bus and used it to avoid traffic jams. Pal Sharon Dunford, 61, lost Geoff aged 66 last year and says Noel helped him live four years after medics gave him just six months. They travelled around France with Noel and wife Liz – and once turned up at Stonehenge in Halloween costumes.
Sharon said: “The bus was bought on a drunken night out. We had her renovated. Upstairs was a bar and seats and a bit of a cinema room. The whole roof opened back.”
Noel also helped them see a Harley Street expert and created a plan for Geoff that included meditation and diet changes. Noel Edmonds shot down rumours of a rift between him and Holly Willoughby, saying he was in “awe” of her. Two years ago, he branded Holly “aggressive and disrespectful” after she interviewed him on This Morning. And some viewers speculated there was bad blood between the pair. But after being evicted from the jungle, Noel sang her praises. “I’ve been in TV 50 years and I’ve never encountered such a professional operation,” he said. “I am in awe of Dec and Holly, it’s a difficult job for her to do having to step into Ant’s shoes, she has done a brilliant job.” He added being on the show was the highlight of his lengthy career. “I’ve flown with the Red Arrows twice and this has trumped it,” he declared.
