Moyes to go Round at Saints
STEVE ROUND is in the frame to take over as director of football at SOUTHAMPTON – fuelling suggestions that David Moyes is set to take over at St Mary’s.
The former Everton No.2 has just been sacked from his job at Aston Villa where he was working for Steve Bruce.
But he is one of the candidates to fill the role vacated by Les Reed after the former England youth coach was axed last month.
Reed was instrumental in bringing Mark Hughes to the club – but the one-time Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich striker is now living on borrowed time.
Hughes, 55, is tipped to lose his job if Saints flop against Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday.
Round is an ally of Moyes with the pair having worked together at Goodison Park where the Scot put together a competitive Everton side that tasted Champions League football under his guidance.
Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham in May.
He delivered another topflight season for owners David Sullivan and David Gold, only to be replaced by Manuel Pellegrini.
