Cut prices on crowns
A SUPERMARKET price war is set to drive turkey joint prices down by 3.3 per cent this Christmas.
The average price of an own- label large turkey breast crown has fallen 67p since last year to £19.53.
But the British Turkey Federation told The Grocer magazine that stores are taking a profit hit since farmers are charging more for turkey due to an increase in feed costs.
Nearly three quarters of people buy crowns or joints, rather than a full turkey.
