Marie ID on leg in river
A HUMAN leg found in a river has been confirmed to be the limb of a woman who went missing a year ago.
Police were called after the remains had been seen in the River Irwell, Salford, Greater Manchester.
DNA testing confirmed the leg belonged to Marie Scott, 58, who was reported missing from her home in Hale in December last year.
Police said there are no suspicious circumstances and no one else is thought to be involved.
Det Insp Simon Akker said: “This is an absolutely heartbreaking development in the investigation and her family are distraught.”
He added: “I know the devastating impact this will have on them.”
