Rodgers’ Bhoys in for Killie

Scottish Round-up

BRENDAN RODGERS claimed Celtic were “near on perfect” in leapfrogging opponents Kilmarnock to the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership with a stunning 5-1 victory.

Steve Clarke’s side travelled to Parkhead with a one-point advantage over the Hoops.

But goals from winger James Forrest, striker Odsonne Edouard, captain Mikael Lustig and midfielder Ryan Christie gave Celtic a commanding lead.

Half-time substitute Eamonn Brophy reduced the deficit with a penalty, but Forrest grabbed his second as the Hoops moved two points clear of Killie.

Rodgers said: “How we played was near on perfect in terms of our positioning.”

Oran Kearney (above) questioned the “bottle” of ST MIRREN after a woeful 3-1 collapse against LIVINGSTON, shipping second-half strikes to Scott Pittman, Ryan Hardie and Craig Sibbald, to cancel out Alfie Jones’ goal.

HEARTS manager Craig Levein admitted he could not care that the 1-0 win over MOTHERWELL, courtesy of an own goal from defender Charles Dunne, was not pretty.

Oliver Shaw grabbed a winner for HIBERNIAN in their 1-0 win at HAMILTON, while Blair Alston scored twice as ST JOHNSTONE won

2-0 away at ABERDEEN.
