Rail & car travel hell

-

BRITS were yesterday warned to expect more travel hell this Christmas.

While 19 million drivers are set to hit the roads, the rails will be hit by engineering works and strikes.

Northern Rail and South Western workers walk out next Saturday, but that’s just the start of trouble on the trains – with more than 330 rail projects planned from then until January 3.

Only five out of 30 operators will run Boxing Day services – and trains will only run in the South East.

Over 200 miles of roadworks will be suspended from Friday to January 2.

But the RAC warned: “Major roads will be pretty clogged. Many schools break up later which will make matters worse.”
