Meg a night of it at Royal Variety bash

THERE’S no doubt that Meghan Markle, who was in the royal box at the London Palladium on ITV on Tuesday, would have been wondering what the hell was going on half the time, as she sat through the endurance marathon that is The Royal Variety Performance.

I wonder if the royals draw for the short straw every year? That said, I thought host Greg Davies was a breath of fresh air for the much-mocked institution.

His song for Prince Harry, My Nan, Your Nan, was ingenious, and left Harry in stitches.

Some of the acts are hit and miss, but with the likes of musical Hamilton and George Ezra storming the stage, this is still entertaining.

A bit like watching a condensed series of Britain’s Got Talent, some you boo, some you cheer – it’s variety, you can’t win ‘em all.
