2 held at airport in gun probe
TWO men were held at an airport yesterday by police targeting a crime network smuggling drugs and guns and laundering money.
A 51-year-old was held as he arrived at Birmingham Airport. A 20-year-old was also arrested there.
Officers later searched properties in Birmingham and Tamworth, Staffs.
The men, both from Staffordshire, were being quizzed by officers from the National Crime Agency and Staffordshire Police.
The NCA said the raid was “part of an investigation into the supply of drugs and firearms in Ireland and the United Kingdom”.
