Young Paras jump to it on brutal course
YOUNG men, some still teenagers, were being trained as elite killing machines in ITV’S The Paras: Men of War.
It was absolutely brutal. The recruits were put through their paces as they started the 28-week Parachute Regiment course, and it was a massive shock.
They had their heads shaved and were all to be called Joe (Joined On Enlistment). Private Jack KojoBraima, 17, said: “I’m not going to be able to call my mum and ask her to give me a hug. It’s about just growing a pair and getting the job done.”
I just wanted him to have a hug from his mum. There was lots of gruelling training, yelling, swearing and talk of “smashing the enemy”. No surprise that some decided they weren’t cut out for it.
