Pasta price to boil over
PASTA lovers are facing price hikes because of a durum wheat shortage.
From tagliatelli and spaghetti to penne and linguine, the shortage is down to a disastrous world harvest caused by climate change.
Research by retail analysts Assosia in trade magazine The Grocer shows prices of own-brand packs of dried pasta have leapt in stores such as Sainsbury’s and Asda – where a 3kg bag of fusilli rose from £3.50 to £4.30 this week.
