CCTV clue over bomb

- By Geraldine Mckelvie

COUNTER-TERROR police are probing whether the Liverpool bomber scoped out the maternity hospital where he struck, just 12 hours before the blast.

Insiders say CCTV experts are trawling footage to see if Emad Al Swealmeen was caught on film before last Sunday’s attack.

It is thought to include a blue Ford Fiesta pulling up outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital at around 10.30pm the night before.

An insider said: “It had five men in it. They were acting suspiciously.

“It stayed for six minutes. They didn’t get out. It could have been him and his mates, we just don’t know.”

Al Swealmeen, 32, died when his homemade bomb went off as he drew up in a taxi at 10.57am last Sunday.

Police told of “significant progress” after talking to his brother about his life and recent state of mind.
