Darkness and death lurk in online dating
SOCIAL Media Murders on ITV2 this week were chilling documentaries about the deaths of three young people, where social media played a devastating role.
Each film delved into a horrific killing that was not for the faint-hearted. It made me want to ban my kids from ever using social media.
There was the tragic story of 22-year-old backpacker Grace Millane, who was murdered by her Tinder date in Auckland in 2018.
The second film told the story of Alex Rodda, an openly gay 15-year-old who was groomed on Facebook for sex then bludgeoned to death with a wrench in 2019.
And the third programme was about Molly Mclaren, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2017.
Their relationship started on Tinder but he used social media to track her down after their split.
A disturbing, debatesparking insight into the dark side of social media.
