AIR UPDATE

- NIGEL THOMPSON

A new direct flight from Gatwick to Canada’s historic Unesco-listed Quebec City starts next year.

Leading leisure carrier Air Transat will launch a weekly service to North America’s only walled old town outside Mexico in May, and at the same time will also restart its routes to Quebec’s largest city, Montreal.

Air Transat resumed Gatwicktoronto links in September as the aviation industry recovers from the effects of the pandemic. Manchester-toronto followed in October and Glasgow-toronto returns next month.

Passengers travelling in its renewed Airbus A330 and A321neolr jets will get more space and improved comfort in economy with wider natural leather seats, plus state-of-the-art entertainment systems and USB ports to charge personal electronic devices.

Gatwick-montreal returns start at £374, and to Quebec City from £443.
