PLANT of the week Pansies and viola

Pansies and violas are really the most cheerful flowers at this time of year.

The perky combinations of purple, yellow, white, maroon and violet petals arranged as happy smiley faces are a welcome burst of colour in the coming winter months.

Stuff loads of them into terracotta pots and just remember to keep them watered if you have them sheltered under a porch.

They might slow down a bit in a hard frost but they are very hardy and will survive.
