Try record for Hoggy

-

Scotland 29 Japan 20 STUART HOGG entered the record books as he became Scotland’s leading try-scorer of all time.

In an unconvincing win, the Scotland skipper burst over for his 25th try to beat the record set in the 1930s by Ian Smith.

Hogg (above) said: “There’s no better feeling than playing for Scotland.

“It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a young kid – I’m still living the dream. Being part of this group is something special.”

Gregor Townsend’s side have won three out of four Tests in their Autumn Series, but they were far from their best.

They defeated Japan with tries from Duhan van Der Merwe, Hogg, Darcy Graham and Stuart Mcinally. Tevita Tatafu went over for the visitors.

Townsend said: “To have 12 new caps is massive. It gives them a taste of what it’s like playing for your country at Murrayfield.”
