Pep praise for flexible Silva star
MANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola reckons Bernardo Silva is the most versatile player in the world.
The Portuguese midfielder has been sensational for the champions this season after a summer that saw him unsettled by personal problems and the arrival of £100million England international Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.
But Guardiola admits that the player who was available for £40m has now made himself indispensable.
Guardiola said: “Now he is undroppable.
“Sometimes he didn’t play last season, so he wasn’t undroppable then because he wasn’t at the level.
“But the year we won the league with 98 points he was the best – and I think he’s coming back to that.
“What he’s done this season – it is difficult to find in Europe, even the world, a player like him right now.
Intuitive
“He can play in six positions. He can play holding midfielder, attacking midfielder, winger, striker, false nine, on the other wing. He is so smart, so intuitive, so intelligent. He’s a player who knows what is going on every second of the game and exactly the right decision to make.
“Especially in games at Anfield, Stamford
Bridge, Old Trafford, at
Brighton – one of our toughest games – and against Leicester.
“Bernardo is happy here now in his personal life and hopefully he can have an exceptional season for us.”
