Forrest fells The Saints
JAMES FORREST came off the bench to fire Celtic into the Scottish League Cup final at the expense of holders St Johnstone.
On an emotional evening after the death of Celtic legend Bertie Auld this week, Ange Postecoglou’s men were frustrated until the 73rd minute.
But four minutes after his arrival as a substitute Forrest (above right) fired home the winner as Celtic clinched a 1-0 home win.
The defeat brings to an end a remarkable 11-game unbeaten run in knockout football for St Johnstone, which saw them win both domestic cups last season.
Celtic’s man-of-thematch winger Jota, who created Forrest’s winner, said: “It’s terrific. We’ve played some good football.”
In the Premiership, ABERDEEN’S Funso Ojo was sent off after a clash with a home DUNDEE UNITED fan in his side’s 2-0 loss. Ojo, whose momentum took him behind the goal, was shoved in the chest and after a confrontation was shown a second yellow by referee Bobby Madden.
His manager Stephen Glass was red-carded at half-time for complaining.
HEARTS missed the chance to split the Old Firm and move second after they lost 2-0 to MOTHERWELL.
