FAME AND FORTRESS

Who’s in the line-up for this year’s

-

Eyebrows were raised last year when, due to the pandemic, ITV announced that I’m A Celeb would still go ahead, but in Wales rather than the Aussie bush. As it turned out, Gwrych Castle, Conwy, made a striking setting – and the 2020 series proved it’s the campmates and Ant and Dec’s witty hosting that really make the show.

OK, so it wasn’t a vintage year for dramatic fallouts. On the whole, the castle dwellers rubbed along well, forging some surprising friendships, like the one between Beverley Callard and Jordan North. But will it all be plain sailing when this year’s contestants head to Wales?

The Class of 2021’s line-up has now been confirmed, and it looks set to be cracking. The stars include dancing queen Arlene Phillips, who’ll be giving it a go at the sprightly age of 78, and Newcastle fans Ant and Dec are sure to be thrilled that former Toon player David Ginola has signed up.

Presenter Richard Madeley got into trouble recently for calling an interviewee “darling” – will he be bringing the gaffes to Gwrych?

And it may be early days, but the bookies’ favourite to win is Loose Women panellist Frankie Bridge. If she does, she’ll trump husband Wayne – the ex-man City footballer finished fifth in 2016.

So who’s going to be this year’s hero during the trials? And who’ll be lifting the camp’s spirits as castle court jester? We can’t wait to find out!
