It’s said that Harry Dacre was inspired by the future Edward VII’s mistress when he wrote his catchy song about a bicycle built for two.

Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick, was an early and enthusiast­ic adopter of cycling who often changed the colour of her bike to match her dresses. A magazine at the time reported that she had “caught that rabid disease commonly known as cyclomania”, even shunning her beloved horses in favour of a bike ride.
