“I feel like I’m flying”

-

“When I’m cycling, I feel like I’m flying,” keen cyclist Quailyn Gayadeen, who first got on a bike nine months ago, says.

“I’d always wanted to cycle but, as I have uncontrolled epilepsy, I was always too scared – and then I discovered Wheels for Wellbeing.

“I went along to one of their training sessions at the local velodrome, where I discovered a tricycle was the best bike for me, and also learned the basics of cycling.

“Over the next five weeks, I developed my cycling skills by pedalling around the velodrome with other disabled cyclists. Once I was confident on my trike, I was asked to join a group cycle ride.

“My stomach was in knots at the thought of cycling on the road but it proved to be an exhilarating, relaxing and incredibly liberating experience.

“I now cycle everywhere on my trike, which I’ve hired from Wheels for Wellbeing. I love being a cyclist!”
