Lesser black-backed gull

-

The UK holds approximately 40% of the European total of this elegant large gull. With smart yellow legs and a slightly finer body than the black-back, it is another gull that is often found nesting on rooftops in coastal towns. It is also found around landfill sites and more frequently inshore than its larger cousin. The nickname coddy moddy refers to its love of young cod. It is also nicknamed saithe fowl and yellow-legged gull.
