Diabetes Pill

-

A new pill called Invokana, which has been available on the NHS for the last 12 months to help people with type 2 diabetes, has now been shown to have hugely beneficial side effects in addition to its ability to manage blood sugar levels.

The pill is routinely given to people who cannot control their type 2 diabetes through diet and exercise alone, and who cannot tolerate the more commonly prescribed drug, Metformin.

But a major new study of 10,000 patients in 30 countries has revealed that Invokana could help slash the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease – it also reduces blood pressure and triggers weight loss. It is being heralded as a “game changer” in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
