National Championships
Two Cotswold riders did qualify for the RDA National Championships and will be heading to the prestigious event later in the summer.
The Championships is the biggest event of its kind in the world for disabled riders and carriage drivers. Around 400 competitors of all ages and abilities take part.
In the past, it has proved a springboard for Paralympians such as Sophie Christiansen CBE and Lee Pearson CBE.
Events range from the Countryside Challenge, which is a bit like an obstacle course, to equestrian vaulting (like gymnastics on horseback) and high-level dressage.
The friendly annual event is an opportunity for RDA groups to get together and for parents to see their children competing on the national stage.
“We have always enjoyed our visits to the RDA, everybody is friendly and positive,” one parent says. “I know our daughter gets a real buzz from competing and enjoying the company and, of course, talking about horses. We feel we are part of one big family.”
Good luck to Cotswold RDA’S riders and to everyone competing at this year’s Championships!
